About

Dear Listener,

Writing letters to the government is an effective way of making contact with elected officials who have sworn to serve us, yet have no idea who we really are or how deeply we are affected by the policy decisions that come across their desks.

Democracy is a wonderful concept, but from the very beginning it has been divisive. In other words, well-meaning but sometimes unwittingly privileged folks, who believe that they know what is best for the rest of us, have distanced themselves from those that they believe to be a largely incapable populus. Our electoral system is designed in such a way as to ensure that certain majorities do not become too powerful, but in doing so diminishes the power of many under-served groups. We the people need to utilize a variety of methods to be heard in this country. Our silence allows us to be generalized as meek and faceless numbers.

I invite you to take back some power… to tighten up that gap… to send a little “Hi, I’m out here and I’ve got my eye on you” by sending a letter to one or all of your government representatives. It’s an easy, almost lazy, form of activism. Also, a person can learn a lot about what they can and cannot accept about our system simply by writing such a letter.

C’mon, give it a try!! And, if you’d care to share your words or speak about your experiences, you can fire me an e-mail and be on the show. I record the show ahead of time, so no stage-fright issues! Contact me, Chris, at:
